Co-Op / Internship on Campus Employment at off Campus Location
Student is eligible immediately upon obtaining F-1 status – no waiting period.
Maximum of 20 hours/week during the academic semesters. (Full-time during semester break and summer).
Work must be considered “on campus”.
“On-campus” may include work at an off-campus location which is educationally affiliated with the school.
The educational affiliation must be associated with the school’s established curriculum or related to contractually funded research projects at the post-graduate level and be an integral part of the student’s educational program. 8 C.F.R. 2(f)(9)((i).
Since the student is here on an F-1 student Visa and may not want to use his/her curricular practical training (CPT), he or she will have to be paid by a Syracuse University check to be in compliance with INS guidelines under the clause of "on campus employment at off campus location".
