The CASE Center is proud to be associated with a variety of organizations within the Greater Syracuse area. Representing business, academia, and government these organizations play a vital role in the success of the center.
TDO
The CASE Center at Syracuse University has been in collaboration
with the Central
New York Technology Development Organization (CNY TDO)
for nearly a decade. The CNY TDO is a Syracuse-based, not-for-profit
corporation serving small-to medium-sized manufacturers and
high-tech entrepreneurs in Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Onondaga,
and Oswego counties. The CNY TDO is affiliated with a statewide
program designed to promote technology-based business growth
and manufacturing modernization.
The Central New York TDO has improved the competitiveness of our area's 1, 200+ smaller manufacturers and high tech companies, as well as supported the startup of many new high tech ventures.
In Central New York, TDO has become synonymous with manufacturing modernization, cutting edge technology, productivity improvement, revenue increase, and job creation. Recently, the CASE Center and CNY co-sponsored underwriting programming on WCNY, Public Television for Central New York to help foster the idea of CNY as a high-tech area. The TDO and CASE Center long since have held numerous seminars and conferences to help augment technology-based business growth.
DaVinci Times
CASE is a member of the daVinci project, whose objectives include recruiting more high-technology professionals to the Central New York area, as well as enhancing and improving the overall technical environment in Central New York. Several Central New York technology companies, including Sensis, Syracuse Research Corporation, Lockheed Martin, and Welch Allyn started the daVinci project in 1998. Besides recruiting technical talent into CNY, the daVinci Project sponsors technical outreach programs for area schools and the community.
For more information on the daVinci project, please contact Tom Mushow, daVinci Project Director at (315) 445-5845.
Entrepreneurship Program
CASE has a continuing relationship with the Program
in Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises at the School
of Management. The objective of the program is to develop
within students the business savvy to carry ideas and dreams
as high and as far as the students wish to take them. Students
develop the knowledge needed to transform ideas and emerging
organizations into prospering enterprises, the astuteness
to anticipate opportunity and minimize risk, and the wherewithal
to maintain a clear vision.
The vision of Syracuse University's Program in Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises is to forge a synergy between educational excellence and entrepreneurial ingenuity. Students gain the knowledge and skills to nurture a startup, manage a family business, revitalize an established business, or shepherd hybrid economic organizations-alliances, joint ventures, partnerships, or "virtual corporations." Syracuse Chamber of Commerce
The Greater Syracuse Business Development Corporation (GSBDC) makes SBA 504 loans to small business. Its mission is to develop the local economy by supporting the development of small businesses. The Syracuse Chamber of Commerce manages GSBDC.
Economic Crime Institute
The Economic Crime Investigation Institute (ECI) provides support for the development of academic programs in economic crime investigation and management and provides a national forum for the exchange of ideas on economic crime prevention, detection, and investigation. The CASE Center is directly involved in the Computer Forensics Research and Development Center (CFRDC).
Metropolitan Development Association
The Metropolitan Development Association is a professional, not-for-profit planning, research and development organization representing the business leadership of the Central New York region. Since 1959, the MDA has been Central New York's principal economic development and leadership organization, and the primary private sector vehicle for the implementation of key development projects in the region.
City of Syracuse
The City of Syracuse is developing a "Smart Building" to serve the needs of small companies in information technology. The building has been designated as the Dey's Centennial Building in downtown Syracuse and is equipped with a fiber-optic network. The Smart Building offers easy access to many business services. It will house both mature companies and start-ups. The CASE Center views the incubator space in the Smart Building as appropriate for CASE companies that have "outgrown" the CASE incubator, such as MNIS TextWise Labs, who moved into Dey's Centennial Building in January. The Smart Building is partially funded by a grant from HUD.
Academic Collaboration
