CASE Industry Co-op Program

Objectives:

  • Provides employers access to talented graduate student employees that possess state-of-the-art technology to assist with solutions to real business problems.
  • A challenging exposure to practical business engineering and information technology environments for students.
  • Minimal administrative burden for employers and simplifies connections to talented graduate students.
  • Students may work part time during the semesters and full time during the summer, semester and spring breaks.
  • The potential for increased full time engineering student employment with New York State companies.
  • Opportunities for more detailed joint industry-university projects through CASE (focusing on product design, product improvement/extension, or process improvement).

Process:

  • Student establishes an account on the Syracuse University on-line recruiting system: OrangeLink
  • Student uploads resume to his/her personal OrangeLink account
  • Student also submits resume to David DiMaggio
  • Resumes are reviewed, screening interviews are scheduled and the recommended students are then forwarded to the employer for final interviews and selection
  • The selected student completes the necessary forms through either the Student Employment Office or Office of International Students (Slutzker Center) and is added to the Syracuse University payroll.
  • The student reports to work as scheduled by the employer
  • Weekly time sheets are approved by the employer and submitted by student to the CASE
  • Student receives weekly payments from Syracuse University
